Drawings module

A drawing register that ties weld history to every revision

Drag-and-drop piping isometrics into a versioned register. Smart Scan reads each PDF, extracts the BOM and weld map, and keeps the audit trail intact through every rev.

  • Drag-and-drop PDF ingest with automatic page splitting
  • Revision-aware register with side-by-side rev compare
  • Weld count, footage, and Actual WDI computed per drawing
  • Linked transmittals, NDT reports, and turnover packs

One register, every revision

Every PDF you upload is parsed, deduplicated by drawing number, and stored against a clean rev history. When a new revision arrives, Piping.Tools shows what changed in the BOM, the weld count, and the geometry — without you opening two PDFs side by side.

Linked to the rest of the project

A drawing record is the spine that everything else hangs off. Welds, BOM items, cut lists, NDT reports, transmittals, and turnover packs are all linked back. Open any drawing and see its complete fabrication and QA story in one place.

What you get

Smart Scan ingest

AI extracts the title block, BOM table, and weld pin layout from standard piping isometrics in seconds.

Live actuals

Actual WDI, footage, and weld counts roll up from the welds module so the register is always current.

Audit-ready trail

Every upload, edit, and revision is logged with user, timestamp, and source IP for inspector handoff.

Frequently asked questions

What drawing formats can I upload?

Piping.Tools accepts standard PDF piping isometrics, including multi-page sets. Smart Scan works best on isometrics that follow the usual title-block + BOM table layout used in B31.3 fabrication, but it will still register and store any PDF.

How are revisions handled?

Each upload is matched to its drawing number. New revisions are stacked into a rev history without overwriting prior versions, so you can compare changes and keep the historical record intact for QA and audit.

Do I need to enter the BOM by hand?

No. Smart Scan reads the BOM table and weld pin layout from the PDF. You can review and edit the extracted data, then push it directly into the BOM module, the weld log, and the cut list.
